Welcome to Caffeinate, a humble coffee blog
for students and Sydneysiders alike.
Who are we? We are two broke university students, both
in our third year of combined Law and International Studies degrees.
Julia studies at UNSW, which seems to have more
eateries and cafés on campus than lecture rooms. Whether you’re enjoying a
leisurely breakfast with a strong cup of coffee at the Whitehouse to start your
day, or just dropping by the library Coffee Cart for a quick pick-me-up at
lunch, studying at UNSW inevitably gives you a taste for some good,
student-priced caffeinated beverage that you cannot do without.
Erin is at UTS, where everything and everyone
is chillaxed almost to the point of irresponsibility. (Not really. But also,
really). One good thing about attending a uni scattered throughout the heart of
the CBD is the wealth of options for coffee. Sometimes you want something
subtle and fruity for a 2pm pick-me-up. Other times you need a cup of bloody
strong caffeine to power you through your readings.
What is this
blog? We started this blog because we,
like most law students, got seriously addicted to coffee once starting
university. We’re always on the search for good cafés fit for poor,
caffeine-starved uni students – good location, good prices, good food and good
atmosphere.
We want to provide a down-to-earth, honest
guide to good coffee in Sydney. We’ll tell you what’s good and what’s not, and
we’ll try not to get caught up in wanky reflections in the “velvety caramel
undertones and lingering hints of smoky acidity” (whatever that means). Like
good little law students, we’ll aim for objectivity, tested observations and
lame lawyer-jokes and witticisms.
Feedback, commentary and café suggestions are
more than welcome! We hope you enjoy our posts.
Here we go…
